Description of Billygoats

The groups meets Monday, Tuesday or Thursday and Friday with option to add Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Billygoats Child Care Licensed Facility or at the fieldtrip site as planned in the calendar. Usually fieldtrips are held in Glen Park playground or Douglas Park.

During the first two weeks, each child will have a parent stay for the day to support the child’s transition to the group. After that period, we will create a routine to say good-bye to the parents at 9:40 a.m.

We explore the uniqueness of nature each day and have at least one planned activity. There are two meal times (snack and lunch) shared with stories. We have diaper change or potty time.  Children are not required to be potty trained.  At 12:30 p.m. parents arrive and help us clean up.  This is also an opportunity for families to stay to share ideas or questions with the teacher.

Parent Participation

Parent participation in Billygoats involves three primary things:  on-duty days, family job, and attendance at Parent Education Events as follows:

On-Duty Days:  Each family volunteers one day every 3 weeks. During the day, the parent on duty will work with the teacher (Angelica) on the activities. This means a lot of interaction with the teacher while we learn from each other and the kids! On Wednesday there is not parent volunteer and is always host at Teacher's house.

This host parent is responsible for bringing a morning snack and lunch for the six children in the group, as well as extra water. The teacher provides basic supplies for daily routines, art and crafts and gross motor activities. All the families will provide additional materials and toys for the activities if needed.

Family Jobs:  Each family is assigned a job for the year, based on their interest and skills.  A list of the jobs is attached.

Parent Education Events:  At least one parent from each family is required to attend three parent education meetings.  Parent education meetings will be held on Saturday mornings from 9 – 11, dates to be determined.

Social Events: Billygoats host several social gathering for parents to establish a solid community.  We love party time!

Each family must also sign a contract and provide health information for the child as requested.
